The area around the village of Orce can on occasion generate its own little micro-climate and can last for days, it can be quite strange sitting on the patio in the sunshine watching black clouds and lightning pass by only 1/4 mile away. The village and its surrounding hamlets are situated in a "bowl" that used be a prehistoric lake hence so many prehistoric finds in the area
www.altipla.com/orce indeed, at the "dig" around 100m from our house a further 5 woolly mamoths have been discovered.
With this climate comes thunder....and rain, the kind of rain that turns roads to rivers.
...and then nature takes its course, the once dessert like landscape turns to green. The change is also very very quick.
Todays cave temperature: 18 degrees
