Gas bottles and accidents

Spanish gas bottles.... A few weeks ago we decided to do the "school run" as we needed to be in the village early, we do this quite often as it saves our trusty policeman a wasted journey picking up the kids if we are going to the village anyway. This particular morning we needed to replace a gas bottle so put the empty in the boot. We picked up CR Juniors best mate and in went the bags and lunch boxes next to the gas bottle - some rearranging was required......

The hatch was closed but the gas bottle was a fraction of an inch in the wrong place - pop went the window followed by some very colourfull language in English, French and Spanish. The culprit offered to pay but we went the insurance route and just as well as the window is priced at 400 euros..



Over two months later we are still waiting for the glass, apparently it has to come from Germany, the car is an Audi A6 but not exactly new (1995)not even the scrap yards had a rear hatch or the glass so we just keep waiting.



It isnt actualy legal to carry gas bottles in your car but the Guardia Civil arnt concerned. In a village or built up hamlet where its worth the gas wagon coming over then the bottles will be delivered. If your rural with few people then you have to get it yourself.. Just be carefull closing the rear hatch!
